One of California’s leading bike bloggers is visiting Los Angeles this coming weekend, and looking for some fun bike-related activities. But aside from Critical Mass and Bicycle John’s Customer Appreciation ride in Agoura Hills, I’ve got nothing.

Note to Beverly Hills: If the city was safer and more inviting to walk and bike — and stopped fighting transit plans that might relieve your hellish traffic congestion — you might not have that high commercial vacancy rate. And that lack of parking south of Wilshire Blvd wouldn’t really matter.

Midnight Ridzz will be doing something every evening…or just go to an interesting place via bike like the river paths.

Yeah, you know, that’s how I thought about it. After hanging around City Hall a bit, I believe it’s not about demand (the need for parking) but about the supply of it. It’s the vested interests that each find something to support in the process of buying commercial property, rezoning it, then pouring the concrete.
Even better when the seller is, say, the BH Chamber, and even better than that when come high-cost but low-value commercial space can be incorporated into the deal.
No wonder our parking op fund is in the red $2+ million. I’m just sayin’…
